Interview by the german rockmagazin www.home-of-rock.de.

This interview was published by home-of-rock in german. We thought it could be an idea to publish it
here in english as well. Home-of-rock also have a section "lesen-hören-kaufen", where they offer our CD.

Home of rock: After talking about the CD of Mr. Morning it was clear to offer the CDR at home-of-rock as well.
We mean it is our very special duty to take care for propagation of good music. It then was a matter of fact
to introduce this sympatic guys from the high north via an interview. Unfortunately we do not have the necessary
funds for business trips, especially not for going to Sweden so we decided to choose the electronic way via email.
Like exptected: Mr Morning not only makes great music, they are very open minded and you even can read their
sense of humor between the lines.

1: Home of rock: "We play Rock music",. That's a quotation from your website. And you say that
you just provide a musical frame where everybody can picture own thoughts, feelings, imaginations etc.
That is unusual, because most bands have a straight idea what they want to say with their music.
You want the listeners just having fun with your music, don't you ?

mr morning: Sure, but it depends on what you mean by having fun. We want to have fun while we are
playing and we hope that it's going to be just as fun and exciting for the audience. We strive to play music
which we want to listen to ourselves. Open music, a music which is accessible without being shallow or
crowd-pleasing in some other way. We try to be completely honest in our music. We hope that our different
feelings come to expression when we play. By being honest in our emotions we hope to achieve the same
honesty and open mindedness in the audience. We think the "right now" feeling is very important. We want
to nurture the very instant here and now. We view our music as a discussion between the members within
the band and between the band and the audience. The subject is free. It should rather be danceable… Ho Ho
Most of the time the discussion continues backstage over a crate of beer, while the fresh recording is playing
in the taperecorder.

2: Home of rock: Rock music, that's surely what you play, but it is to less to describe your music. I hear Reggae
Rhythms, "Junebug" reminds me at the jam style of Phish, another song (Sunshine) reminds me to Pink Floyd.
So there is a big variety of styles in your music. Is this variety for purpose or a matter of influence from the band
members ?

mr morning:The songs originate mostly from jam-sessions. In the jams all the band members participate with
their different musical preferences and influences, so it's natural that the music points in different directions.
All of us in the band are great music lovers, but we have a very varied musical taste, so that also contributes to
the music moving in different directions. One common ground we do have is the blues for which we share a
great love and respect.

3: Home of rock:Although this huge variety, at least in Germany the Jamscene, better the Deadheads loves
you music. They see you as a jam band. Do you feel primarily like a jam band or are you kind of surprised that
you are classified to be one ?

mr morning: Hey that's nice to hear that Deadheads like our music. If they are able to find something that
reminds them of Grateful dead, that's maybe not so strange. We are influenced by the G.D in as much as they
are one strong voice in the "soundtrack of our lives". And then, sure if jamband means that band likes to jam
then we are a jamband alright. It's really only in the last few years we've been playing proper tunes. We mostly
jam without any rules and without a safety-net, even live. Sometimes it really freaks us out and sometimes on
special occasions mr morning takes over the controls and starts playing through us. That's very nice when our ego
is falling. The jam experiences are very different for each member of the band, someone can be totally
dissatisfied while someone else thinks it's great. But by experience we know that this doesn't matter so much.
The power and the dynamics of the music can only improve by enlarging the range of emotions, perceptions and
realities.

4: Home of rock:Who is that Mr. Morning that takes control over the Band Mr. Morning. Is a special meaning
behind Mr. Morning, maybe a figure from history or so ? Why did you choose this Bandname ?

mr morning: Mr Morning was born in the seventies among a couple of friends interested in music, poetry and art.
We wanted an alias, a name to gather around, a collecting name. The individuals as such, was not so interesting,
but the sum of all members input the more important. This sum, the group mind, equals with Mr Morning, an
entity with it's own life. The now existing band, Mr Morning, was formed in a henhouse a couple of years ago
and is a growing plant with it's roots in the soil of Mr Morning. The developement haven't stopped. Every day
has it's new morning….
That tells you a bit of why we choosed the name, Mr Morning.

5: Home of rock:Coming to your home country. Is there an active Jam scene as well and how do Swedish Rock
fans interpret your music ? Jam or just Rock music in general ?

mr morning: We surely hope it's there, but it's nothing we really know anything about. How Swedish rock fans
react is another matter we don't know much about, but after our gigs while we are really dissatisfied and standing
yelling at each other, there tends to be one or other that is sneaking up on us from the back of the bushes and telling
us that we play the best music they've ever heard… So we are very pleased with that.

6: Home of rock: What do you think why European Bands playing this music are less successful than American
bands like Widespread Panic or Phish ? A lack of fans in Europe or is this music not featured enough by radio
and TV stations ?

mr morning: It's probably San Francisco playing its tricks, but apart from that it's likely as you say that this
kind of music with jams, long songs and so on it's not so easy to present in radio and TV.

7: Home of rock: I guess the commercial stations are under pressure of music industry. They are forced to play
what's hip, or what industry wants to be hip. It's a business of course and their target is the very young fun generation.
So Bands like Mr. Morning needs other channels to introduce their music. Is Internet presentation helpful for you ?

mr morning: Yeah, it's one of the few channels accessible for independent bands outside the big companies.
So far we used the net to seek people like us. But we are there and it's ok.

8: Home of rock: As I heard, you are supposed to play in 2003 at the Deadhead Festival in Plauen, Germany.
Is this just a rumor or is it definite fact ?

mr morning: The rumor is true! Beate and Gerd has booked us for Playing in the band 5 in may 2003. So we hope
we are still on. We are really looking forward playing to a crowd of nice and lovely Deadheads IKO IKO.

9: Home of rock: You sound very professional. Even the singer has no accent. Why do you play this music
instead of more popular music ?. I mean, I love your music and I'm glad that you play exactly this style, but Sweden
has born some very successful bands which became very rich and famous - With more commercial music of course.
Money does not come first for you I guess. Is this right ?

mr morning: That's right! Money isn't everything in the world. So far we haven't earned a cent. But we have a
sacred mission from mr morning which we feel is our duty to complete. We don't know the nature of the mission
but…...We fly the freakflag but we have nothing against making a few bucks if the opportunity arises.

10: Home of rock: The 70ties had been the time for Rock music everywhere (TV, Radio, Pubs etc). Do you think
this time comes back or do we all have to deal with today's boy groups, girl groups, artificial bands just created
to make money and sell merchandise stuff ?

mr morning: We hope that people soon get tired of that commercial crap and begin to really listen to music again.
We feel that the most important things is to exist and be vital today, here and now. If we can be honest and open
in communication with the audience and if the audience consists of active listeners we feel that mr morning is able
to take over the show and then the magic can begin. If we can achieve more of these scenes we are confident that
there will be larger numbers of us who want to be free to do what ever we please without any second thoughts of
the cheapest way to make money. In the seventies the live scene was very vital and that's something to bring back.
Real live, living music is really were it's at.

11: Home of rock: Do you plan to work with a label to bring your music to us through the regular channels ?

mr morning: Very well, but so far we haven't even tried. But if we are able to keep our complete freedom, to do
what ever we please, then it's alright. Do you know anyone interested…

Home of rock: Indeed, we will keep our eyes and ears open to look for a partner. We will see and then of course
we will inform. But first thank you for the interview and be cleave yourself and your music.
